SnowTogs Boot Room

A specialist boot fitter's website, rebuilt around what actually makes them different

SnowTogs Boot Room is about as far from the Alps as you can get — based in Southampton, nowhere near a mountain. What they’ve built instead is a reputation most resort shops can’t claim: proper boot fitting, done by people who actually know feet. Customers don’t just buy boots there — they get fitted, measured, and looked after long after they’ve left the shop.

Building the brand outward from the client’s own idea

Our brief started somewhere unusual. SnowTogs had already been experimenting with AI themselves, and had landed on a distinctive logo style they loved. Rather than throw that away and start from scratch, we took it and ran with it — building the entire visual identity of the new site outward from a direction the client had already found and liked. It’s exactly the kind of collaboration we want more of: the client shaping the creative DNA, us turning it into a full brand and a working site, with AI tools sitting naturally in that process rather than off to one side.

The bigger brief, though, was repositioning. SnowTogs didn’t want to read as “a ski shop” any more — they wanted to be known as specialist boot fitters who happen to sell great ski gear, not the other way round. That meant the whole site had to lead with expertise: the fitting process, the experience behind it, the care that goes into getting someone into the right boot — with the shop and the catalogue supporting that story, not fronting it.

The technical centrepiece was the booking system. SnowTogs’ fitting business runs on specifics no off-the-shelf plugin was ever going to handle gracefully — named staff members with their own schedules and services, fixed appointment slots for some, flexible hours for others, daily capacity limits, and the ability to take a day or a week off without touching the shop’s advertised opening hours. Rather than bend a generic booking plugin into an awkward shape, we built one from scratch around exactly how SnowTogs actually works. It’s a good example of how we like to work: build for the requirement, not around a plugin’s limitations.

That purpose-built approach shows up most in the day-to-day admin. Staff can block out time off, manage capacity per service, and keep the booking calendar accurate — all through an interface designed around their real working week, not a generic settings page they have to translate into their own business.

The brief we actually get excited about is the one where nothing off-the-shelf quite fits — that’s when building something properly bespoke pays off, for us and for the client.
